Our Dreams and God's Plan

As a little girl I always dreamed that when I was old enough my prince charming would simply come find me. He would sweep me off my feet and be everything I dreamed he would be and we would live happy ever after. Now older, and I pray a little wiser, God has shown me that I need to lay down my fantasy dreams for that which is greater. God’s word is full of encouraging stories of how He used ordinary people to show His love and power but few if any of those stories would be considered happy ever after stories in our eyes. But, that’s because God does not see as we see. When Christ says “pick up your cross and follow me” that does not mean pray your dreams and wishes to Me and I will make them happen, it means commit your future, dreams and your life to serving and obeying Christ alone. God knows the path and steps He has planned for your life, they are plans that will bring you His peace, Joy and fulfilment as you seek His will. He does not promise to make our dreams come true.


Am I saying that God does not want us to have Godly marriages and families? No. Nor am I saying that we are not to have goals, dreams and plans. I am simply trying to say as Solomon does,


“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart,Lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths" .Proverbs 3 verses 5 & 6


You see, it’s not about us and what we think will fulfil us and make us happy it’s about our Saviour and Creator God. He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ to die for our pride and sin and He rose again to save us from the eternal consequence of our sins, separation from the God of the universe who loves us unconditionally.


Let's not try make our plans and dreams God’s plans!
Let’s humble our dreams before our Heavenly Father who loves us
And wants to use us for His glory in 
His way whatever that may be.


My prayer is, and I pray your’s too, 
'Our Father who art in Heaven hallowed by thy name. 
Your kingdom come, 
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven'.
May I make God's plan the plan and dream
 of my life and through His strength follow Him faithfully.
