How to Make Butter in a Kitchen Mixer

17:18:00

Hi Everyone

Sorry for the break in blog posts. Life has been very busy with family, gardening and a special surprise that I have for you all which will be ready very soon. More information on that next week.

Anyway, I have been making a lot of butter lately, as we have been getting lots of cream from our milking cow. So I though I would take a couple of photos of how I do it and then share it with you all, in case any of you would like to know how to make butter in a kitchen mixer. so here we go...

Supplies Needed:

  • Cream
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Ice

Get your ingredients and equipment together and lets get started.

Pour the cream into the bowl of the mixer. Keep in mind that cream increases to at least double when it is whipped. Keep whipping until the cream has gone past the ‘whipped cream’ stage and has started to separate and form large clumps.

(You may want to cover your mixer with a small towel to contain the splashing.)

Not yet.

Almost there...

Here we go.

When the butter gets all stuck in the beaters you can pour the buttermilk.

Now you get to get your hands in and squeeze out the buttermilk.

Once you get most of the buttermilk squeezed out, you can add some iced water to the mix and sort of work it through to rinse out the rest. You can repeat the rinse a few times to get the last little bit out if you like.

Just put your rinsed butter into a clean container and keep in the fridge or freezer or use as is.

Fresh bread with new butter is unbeatable!

Until next time
